Honorable Order of the Culper Ring

(Neck Medallion and Plaque/Certificate)

(Click on the picture for a description of the symbolism)

AWARD INFORMATION: The Order of the Culper Ring is a once-in-a-lifetime honor that is typically awarded to senior agents due to the level of service needed to achieve it. It recognizes ACI Special Agents who have contributed significantly to the ACI community through either a lifetime’s worth of exceptional service, exceptional acts during shorter time frames (such as on specified missions, deployments, or specific operations), or a combination of the two. The acts listed for a successful nomination must speak directly to going consistently “above and beyond” typical duties in supporting the ACI community. The acts do not have to directly involve specific CI investigations or operations, but should promote and/or involve the ACI community in some significant way (this can include exceptional service to the ACISAA). There is no expiration on the acts which would contribute to this award. However, the ACISAA is very protective of who receives this honor. Agents inducted into the Order of the Culper Ring must be of the highest professional caliber, and the nomination application must reflect that information in an unclassified manner. The historical significance regarding the namesake of this award which can be used for narration during presentation of the award can be found HERE

ELIGIBILITY: To be inducted into the Order of the Culper Ring, a potential candidate must not already be a member of the Order, and must be a current or former ACI Special Agent who is also a Regular, Charter, or Lifetime Member of the ACISAA. The person nominating a potential candidate must also be a Regular, Charter, or Lifetime Member, but does not need to be a member of the Order of the Culper Ring. Those nominees being awarded posthumously do not need any current or past membership in the ACISAA. If the candidate is no longer an agent, he/she must have left the service honorably as noted on their DD-214/retirement orders for former military agents, or retirement/resignation paperwork for former civilian agents. If a candidate is being recommended for induction into the Order based on a lifetime’s worth of service, they must have served for over 10 years in an ACI Special Agent MOS (35L, 351L, 35A2E, or a legacy MOS), civilian ACI (as a Special Agent or Intelligence Operations Specialist/Supervisor), or in direct service to the ACISAA, or any combination of the three that exceeds 10 years in total. The individual must have made a considerable and lasting impact to the ACI community. Acts of valor or extraordinary service, regardless of the number of years of service to the ACI community, will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

COST: $100 or $120 (plus a 1-year membership if needed) payable via the ACISAA website, due at the time of application.

APPROVAL: Reviewed by the Awards Committee and Board of Directors, approved by an ACI Special Agent (does not need to be in nominee's Chain of Command) in the minimum grade of CW5, COL, or GG/GS-15, or by the ACISAA President.
